My g-g-grandfather, William Conway (1829-1888) immigrated to the US about 1850 with his wife Mary Mulholland. I believe he was from County Mayo. They ended up in Syracuse between 1850 & 1859. They lived and died in Syracuse. He was a Civil War Vet.
On the Federal Census of 1860 in Syracuse, he, his wife, several children were listed in his address and one Ann Kerrigan (Kerigan) who was listed as 84 years old & a nurse and born in Ireland. If her age is correct, then she was born about 1776 in Ireland.
Don't know if she was his grandmother on his mother's side or just a border. They were dirt poor so I assume she was a relative. Any ideas?
