Colonial Era Kerseys

While doing research on the Driggers and Sweat families, I've run across Kerseys living in the NC-SC border area. At the time, that would have been Marion and Marolborough counties in SC, and Richmond and Bladen counties in NC. This area is the land of the Lumbee Indians, and in fact, the Kersey and Sweat names show up as common Lumbee surnames.

Have fun making your connections!
