I don't know if there is a connection. My great-grandfather, John Frederick Kasling, came to the U. S. in 1852 from Quellenreuth, Bavaria. His name when he immigrated was Johann Kiesling (the name on the ship manifest); when he married in Illinois, his name was spelled Kesling; when he came to Cass Co., Texas before 1880, his name was spelled Kasling. John Frederick and wife Elenor Quigley had several children, Edward Stephen (my grandfather), Thomas (don't know what happened to him) and several sisters.
The interesting thing is your name.In 1891, in Cass Co., Texas, John Frederick Kasling (Kesling, Kiesling) married a Mrs. Betty Lyles.John Frederick died in Oct. of 1892 and I believe is buried next to his first wife, Elenor Quigley Kasling, even though his grave is not marked. As you may know, the name Kiessling and Kiesling in general was Anglicized either to Kesling or Kisling. There is only one other family in the U. S. whose name is spelled Kasling and we are not related.Jim Skelton, e-mail:[email protected]
