Re: Confused Kessinger

Good afternoon cousin Linda.
It can get very confusing; particularly with the name of Solomon.

The main problem that has probably got you confused is that Solomon Colfax Kessinger was not the son of Joseph and Ruth.
Josiah Dodge Kessinger was the son of Joseph and Ruth, and Solomon Colfax was Josiah Dodge and Cynthia Ann's son.

Solomon "Monie" was Josiah Dodge's older brother, and the progenitor of my line of the Kessinger/Kasinger family.

I hope the following will help. I never know how it will look on this site, if it takes up the full width of your screen, then all reads right; but in case it doesn't, I will try to email it to you as well.

Best wishes,
Deloris (Kasinger) Chestnut

Joseph Kessinger was born about 1770 in Lancaster County, in the British Colony of Pennsylvania. He was the second oldest child of 11 children born to Solomon Kessinger I and Elizabeth (Greenwald), both of German ancestry.
He was 8 years old in 1778, when he, and 5 of his siblings, accompanied his parents on their journey down the Ohio River by flatboat, to the Kentucky territory.
Joseph married Ruth Logsdon on July 10, 1793 in Hart County, Kentucky; and they had, at least, 10 children, all of whom were born in Kentucky.
Joseph's brother, Solomon II, married Ruth's sister, Elizabeth. They are of the "C" Group. The two Logsdon sisters were the daughters of Thomas Logsdon II and his wife, Mary. This family of Logsdons were the ones that left Pennsylvania with the Kessingers, and journeyed down the Ohio River to Corn Island with them.

The children of Joseph and Ruth were:

B1 Elizabeth Kessinger        (Born about 1794 in Kentucky.)
B2 Mary Kessinger        (Born about 1798 in Kentucky.)
