Kessingers in Kansas 1860 to 1900

I have been researching an ancestor named John James Kessinger. I think he was born in Kansas (Kingman County)around 1870. The place of his birth however, I have not substantiated.

He had a son, Jesse James Kessinger, with Lillie Pearl Harvey, from Windfall, Tipton, Indiana, in 1891. He was born in Arkansas City, Kansas, and, I believe, was raised by his grandparents, the Harveys.

I have hit a dead end with John James. I am trying to connect him with one of the family that came from Illinois, Missouri, or Arkansas.

Any help would be appreciated.
