Hello! Our mutual cousin Liz sent me part of your e-mail to her along with the picture of Mary E Dennis Kessinger and her sons. I am descended from the Thomas L Kessinger/Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Dennis line through their son Thomas Louis II, who I believe is listed as Lewis T in the 1880 census. I don't know why the name is turned around backwards--but the birth year is correct and Tom II's death certificate lists Tom I and Mary E as his parents. The information came from one of his daughters. There was at least one more child born to Tom I and Mary E, a daughter named Ella (Ellie) Mae who was born about 1885. Lizzie Dennis Kessinger is listed as her mother in the record of her marriage to Samuel Miller in 1900. Both Sam and Ellie died very young--he about 1918 of flu or cholera, and she about 1922 of TB. Their children were raised in an orphanage in Anchorage, KY. One of their sons,Hubert, became my step-father a couple of years after my father was killed in a fight. My father, Albert Riley Kessinger was the son of Tom II and Ora Mae Milner.
He was a window washer, and mean when he was drunk. He died in a fight in 1944 when I was 8 years old.
I only saw my Great Grandma Lizzie once, but she must have really made an impression on me because that picture looked just like I remember her looking. I haven't seen Grandpa Tom since my father's funeral, 63 years ago, but I believe the gentleman on the end could be him. Thank you for sharing! If you would like to e-mail me, my address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
