Jacob had only one child by his first wife, Sarah Caldwell. She was Mary (or Mariah) W. Kessler, b. 1842, d. 27 Jan. 1893 and married Charles Hoxie. This information was given to me by Lenore Warrens Huntsman (now deceased I feel reasonably sure), a granddaughter of Jacob Kessler and Jemima Bowen. She was a Mormon and quite interested in genealogy. She was quite knowledgable on Jacob and Jemima's family, but the above is all she had on Mary, the half sister. If you have evidence that your Mary Kessler was the daughter of Jacob, then she must have married twice. One reason Lenore might not have found anything about her was that she knew only of the marriage to Hoxie.Jacob would not have had two daughters named Mary, so Sarah Coldwell would have to be your ancestor, rather than Jemima Bowen. Jacob and Saraah were married 10 Feb. 1842 in Giles Co. VA, though the family say 10 Feb. 1840.Sarah was b. 1824 and d. 7 Oct. 1846.Jacob was a judge in Gentry Co. MO, so there should be records about him--maybe probate records which would throw light on his daughter, Mary.Jacob was b. 21 Mar. 1821 and d. 4 July 1888.
