Anna was born in 1775 or 1776. I don't know her maiden name, although it may have been Kittner (in other words, she may have never married). Valentine came in May 1849, with his wife Caroline Kopp, and their two children Albert (b. 1846) and Mary (b. 1842) in Baden. We don't know where in Baden. I never heard anything about a brother of Valentine. He came in through New York or Philadelphia, may have spent a few months in Elmira New York, before moving to Honesdale, PA. These Kittners are Catholics. They spelled their name Kaetner, Ketner, Kitner, with one or two ts.
Have you checked out descendants of Franz Kittner, who came in through new Orleans about that time, and moved to Texas? The other person to talk with is Lois Ketner Angel. I haven't seen a post from her recently, but she's out there somewhere, listed on the forum.
Let me know if you think we connect. None of my early guys went to Texas that I know of, but some of my cousins live there now.
Ruth
