I finally made some slight progress, by visiting a County College Library that has version called "Ancestry Library".I guess that is similar to our County library that has Ancestry Plus software , which was going to be my next stop.

The correct spelling was apparently Ervin Sylvester Ketner per the 1880 thru 1930 census data.
His father was also named Ervin Sylvester Ketner. I found they moved around the USA, by looking at 1910, 1920 & 1930 census data.

Ervin's grandfather was apparently named Thomas J Ketner.
Thomas was apparently a farmer in Illinois in the 1880 census data. He was married to a MAria Ktner and they had Ervin (Sr), Byron and Laura Ketner living with them on 1880 on the farm in Illinois

The trail before 1880 goes somewhat cold", UNLESS Thomas and Ervin are possibly related to an Andrew Ketner with son named Sylvester M. Ketner from the 1870 census data of Pleasent Twsp in Putnam County Ohio. Their lineage seems to go back to WALDENGELLOCH BADEN Germany in the 1700s.
Andrew is apparently connected to the Johan Nicholas Ketner family line.

There may even be a cousin named Lester Sylvester Ketner.

Sylvester was either a common Ketner name, a common name of the time period (mid to late 1800s and early 1900s) or a strange coincidence.
