Mary Catarenor Kettenring Etters born 1747 died in April 15, 1817 buried in Grover, NC, at the Old Shiloh Presbyterian Church cemetery where her son Henry Etters Jr. was a ruling Elder for 29 years, deeded the property for the Church and cemetery
Name on marker is ETTRESS, children buried in same cemetery is Etters.
I've been told that she was born and married to Henry Etters in Switzerland. I have no proof of this. Frist doucment I have for them is a deed in Augusta County, Va. 1777.
He signed his deeds in German. Various Spellings of the name, so not sure what is was suppose to be.
Does anyone know what the Catarenor stands for (Catharine)? or is Catron?
I've never been able to tie her to any of the Kettenring Families. Maybe in Switzerland. Also been told that they came to America in the 1760's! No proof of that either! The frist deeds for the Carolinas was 1787. I've never been able to find any ship records for them. With the spelling of the name, there is no telling how they were listed!
If anyone has any knowledge of her please let me know.
I have website of the Etress, Etris, Etters Families at
