Hi Louis,

I'd like to add information about my family's variation of the Kettering spelling. My was Mary Ketring(married to John Powell Dennis, from Baden), who was the daughter of Samuel Kettering and Katherine Knee. The origional Kettering book has her listed as Katherine Kull, but I don't think that is accurate. Samuel is the son of Martin Kettering and Barbara Alspach of Darke County, Ohio. Samuel's descendants started using spellings such as Kitren, Kitran, Kitron. These spellings are not connected to the spellings used after the Rev. war. My branch didn't even know we were Ketterings until I found the connection a few years ago. These Ketterings settled in southwestern Michigan and in Indiana. I think several other of Martin Kettering's children also moved to this area---Rebecca(John Knee), Sophia (Paul Matrau), Elizabeth (Charles F. Smith). This information is from a listing of early marriages of Berrien County, Mi.. So, if you are looking for Michigan Ketterings, you would find them under some of the above names. Most information on Martin's children seems to stop after they left Ohio and moved to Michigan. Also, Mary Ketring Dennis, married Jacob Macher, also of Darke county, after John Powell Dennis died. It looks like I'm a little late for your most recent edition of the Kettering book, but I would like to get my family's information to you before your next edition . Kathy
