Gladys Elizabeth Beaumont, 102, of Friendship Manor, Rock Island, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at Trinity Medical Center West Campus, Rock Island, IL.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from noon until time of services Thursday at the church. Interment will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Rock Island, or to the Lions Club fund for the blind.
Gladys was born July 6, 1902, in Ashtown, Neb., the daughter of Henry P. and Anne Elizabeth Riegel Kettle. She married Ralph E. Beaumont in 1922, in Independence, Kan. He preceded her in death in 1988. For many years, she worked in the field of photography as a photo finisher, retiring in 1958 but continuing the art as an avocation for a number of years thereafter.
Gladys was a member of First Baptist Church, Rock Island. She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 269, Kings Daughters, Do Unto Others Circle, AARP and the Moline Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include her son (and spouse), Loren Ralph (Marlene) Beaumont, Rock Island; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous stepgrandchildren. Her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
