Gabrielle, I have just read your message and it reminded me of a story my father used to tell. He came from Liverpool and when he went to Scotland he had such a problem with his accent and the spelling of Kewley that he gave up and started calling himself Brown, Black or some other colour (problem was that he used to forget what colour he was using).
Although I have been in Aussie for over thirty years I still have problems with people not understanding my accent and find that they can't even spell Wyatt never mind Kewley. Don't give up - give them a dirty look when they spell your name incorrectly and correct them when necessary.
Helen Wyatt (nee Kewley)
