There are two Ellen Key's in the 1866 Marshall County Alabama Census. The one you listed and another with two females <10 2 between 20 & 30 and 1 between 50 & 60. Both of the censuses were taken by the same census taker, J. S. Sheffeld. One of the census copies lists the location as T7 R3E. This is right location for Samuel Jackson's mother. Both locations must be close together since the same census taker signed both copies. I think that one of these is very likely the mother of Samuel Jackson. I think that Samuel Jackson was born in 1865. His sister, Mary Frances Key, born about 1876 was my grandmother. I have found Ellen Key (list sometimes as Eleanor Key) in the 1850, 1860, and 1880 census but not in the 1870. She had several children, but not all children had the same father. I am interested in any information you have about this family.
