You have a lot of information on Sam Key and Mary Elkins children that I didn't have. My line is Florence Leola Key, daughter of Sam and Mollie. Florence called herself "Black Dutch" and I understand that term has many meanings.

Florence married Roselley "Elly" Pendergrass 31 Dec. 1898 in Aspel, Jackson Co., Ala.
Their children were; Hezzie, Dannie Lenora, Velma, Mary, James, Katie and Effie. Two of the children had black hair and dark complexion, Dannie Lenora and James.
Dannie Lenora is my grandmother.

Mary Jane Marsh parents were:

Joseph Marsh b. 1864 Al.
Nancy Ann Taylor b. 1842 Al.
They married 28 Dec. 1862 Marshall Co., Al.

Their children were:

Mary Jane "Mollie" Marsh b. 1864 Al.
Nancy Katherine "Katie" Marsh b. 24 Jan. 1865 Jackson Co. Marinda b. 1867 Al.

Joseph's parents were Hardy Redden b. abt. 1795 N.C. and
Marinda Marsh b. abt. 1822 Tn. They married 4 May 1837 Blount Co. Al. and divorced before 1860. For some reason Joseph called himself Marsh instead of Redden.

About 10 years into genealogy I discovered my brother owned land just a short distance from where Sam Key had farmed land, in Malakoff Texas. Then, through email, one of Sam Key's relatives and I compared photos and found the resemblance of some of them unmistakable. No one seems to have a picture of Sam tho.

Right now I am at a standstill but still searching in hopes of finding more documents.

Thanks Much. Dannie
