Thanks for asking. I am always glad to have an opportunity to promote the Kidd Y-DNA study. We have two descendants of the James Kidd line in the Kidd Y-DNA study. You can see our results at www.familytreedna.com/public/Kidd
The James Kidd representatives are part of Group 1 under the Y-DNA results tab, with their earliest known ancestor listed as James Kidd, b 1716, Middlesex Co VA. James Kidd the elder, who married Elizabeth/Eliza Webb, was the son of William Kidd (1675-1727) of Middlesex Co VA and the grandson of Thomas Kidd I (d 1680), of Middlesex Co, VA, immigrant to Virginia by 1646.
Neither of our representatives, however, descend directly through William Kidd, grandson of Mary Addaman Stevens. One descends through James Kidd and Eliza Webb's son Webb, and one descends through James Kidd and Winifred Hudson's son Zachariah. They are very close matches and also very close matches with other descendants of William Kidd, son of Thomas Kidd I.
We have three Thomas Kidd I descendants in the study whose lineages are fully documented in each generation: these two representatives of the James Kidd line and my own ancestor Aaron Kidd, brother to James Kidd who married Eliza Webb.
