I am looking for anyone who knew an Ada (Avery) Kidney of Middletown, NY.
Ada was born on December 17, 1878 and died in January of 1971.
Her last known address was Middletown, NY.
I do NOT know who Mr Kidney was, but believe that 'Aunt Ada' was the daughter of
Marietta Tice and ___?___ Avery.
She is also believed to be sister to my g-grandmother Phoebe (Avery) Armstrong.(of Hancock, NY)
We only knew of her as our mother's 'great Aunt Ada'.
I have (mother's) photos of Ada as a young woman and they are labeled 'Aunt Ada Avery'. A second cousin and a first cousin, confirmed that her married name was Kidney, but they hadn't ever met him and it is believed that they never had children of their own.
I am having a terrible time finding info on Phoebe and Ada's (Avery) family.
These old photos that were mother's are the only connection we have.
I certainly DO hope you can help me.
I am pretty sure that their mother was indeed Marietta Tice but have not found their father's first name.
I am hoping to find someone who knew Ada and would remember if she ever mentioned her fathers name, or anything else about the family.
Also, I would love to know more about Aunt Ada as I was fairly young when she passed, and I had only met
her a couple of times when I was small.
----These are other 'Avery' names found on photos but I don't know of the connection:
1. Studio photo. This is a young girl, perhaps 13-14, sitting in a chair, in an apparent school uniform.

2. Studio photo. floor length dresses.. An older woman standing beside a younger Ada who is sitting.. Hair-dos are
upswept in turn of the century style. They are decked out in winter wear, with fur coats, hats and muffs.

3. Studio photo. Middle aged woman in long gingham dress sitting in a chair. Hair also upswept (blond or grey).

[There is a distinct family resemblance between all the women in photos 2 and 3]
4. Outside Snapshot of an older woman (white hair) wearing what appears to be a man's pair of (baggy) slacks, holding what seems to be bucket in one hand and a sun hat in the other. They appear to be gardening clothes.
This photo says 'Aunt Ada Avery', which leads me to believe that she took back her maiden name, or perhaps she married very late in life, or mother just always called her that.
