Dear Jim: Thank you for your response. Here is all of the data I have on the Kiefer Family. I sure wish it was more!

Albert Kiefer/Kifer/Keefer/Keufer m to Sarah Gongaware, dau of Jonas Gongaware and Christina Naley, Jonas son of Phillip G. Gongaware, b. 1760, d. Jan 18, 1829 and Margaretta Miller,d.1823. A number of marriages were between the Altmanís and Gongawareís and Altmanís and Millerís.

Gertrude Kiefer/Kifer/Keefer/Keufer (no data) m. Rudolf Breitenstein, b. Zutzweil, Berne, Switzerland, d. aft 1699 in Herbitzheim, Nassau-Saarwerden, Germany ( now the upper Alsace region of France). Herbitzheim is one of three major cities in that area where the Aultman/Altmann/Altman line starts (with Hans Wilhelm in one has yet been able to take it back further, although there is a story of a Altman...St. Altmann in the 1000 AD era who started a church). Rudolf and Gertrudeís daughter Anna Catharina Breitenstein, b. 1674 in Herbitzheim, d. April 20, 1740 in Herbitzheim married Christian Iseman/Isemann/Eisenmann, b. 1673 in Schopperton, Saarwerden, Germany, d. March 1, 1717-1718. One of their daughters, Anna ďMariaĒ Iseman, b. Feb 17,1700-1701, Herbitzheim, d. March 20, 1775, Poplar Grove, Lehigh Twp., Northampton County, Pa. married Johan Jacob Altman, b. Feb 9, 1699, Herbitzheim, d. March 20, 1775, Poplar Grove, Lehigh Twp etc. Johan Jacob son of Johannes Altman and EvaWagmann; Johannes son of Hans William. The Altmanís emigrated to America 1749 on the Phoenix out of Rotterdam into Philadelphia.

Joseph Kiefer etc. m to Eliza Miller, dau of John Peter Miller, b. 1795, d. 1881 and Sarah Wegley, b. 1798, d. 1879. John Peter Miller, son of Phillip Miller, b. Oct 13, 1854, d. Oct 15, 1854 and Catherina Altman, b.May 1770, Westmoreland County, d. Nov 11, 1834, Westmoreland County. Buried Brush Creek Cemetery, Westmoreland County, Pa.

Katherine Kiefer etc, b.1809, Somerset County, Pa. near Salisbury / Meyersdale, d. May 12, 1845, near Clark, Coshocton County, Ohio m. to Paul Charles Fehr/Fair abt 1825 in Somerset, Paul b., Feb 23, 1801 in Pa. d. May 24, 1880 in Holmes County, Ohio...between 1845 and 1880, parts of Coshocton County were split off into a new county,.... Holmes County. The Altmanís and Fairís again married back and forth a number of times. My direct Altman line migrates through Mechanic Twp, Holmes County, Ohio. My Great Grand Father, Josiah Sylvester Altman, b. 1855, born in Coshocton. (But donít know if Coshocton City or Coshocton County??)

Katherine was the dau of.... Peter Kiefer, b. June 21, 1767, York County, Pa. d. Jan 27, 1824, Greenville Twp, Westmoreland County, Pa. and Anna Mary Magdalena Saylor, b. Aug 11, 1769, d. Nov 27, 1848, Coshocton County, Ohio. Peter & Anna married 1788

Margaretha Kiefer etc., b. abt 1650, d. abt 1690 was the second wife of Johannes Altman, son of Hans Wilhelm. They were married after Evaís death on July 29, 1670 Weitersweiler, Saarwerden. Germany. Have no confirmation, but expect that Margaretha was born and died in Herbitzheim or Weitersweiler.

Regarding your response, I have no data on Johan Jacob Kuefer, Daniel Kuefer, Simon Kifer, Tobias P. Kifer, Ellis Keefer, or Henry J. Kifer.

I have 18 Catherine Altmanís; 2 Idaís; 0 Lenoraís; 0 Lucilleís; and 3 Rachelís....Some have spouses and some donít...none of these were, to the best of my knowledge, married to the Kiefers.

Having only six Kiefers in my total data base, Im surprised to find you have five different Kiefers that are married to Altmanís. Do you have any idea on the parentage of your Altmanís?. I would like to help you, but need more data to identify. Obviously Jim, I would appreciate a copy of your data as well.....especially those Altman / Kiefer lines with collateral families that bring us into the 21 century.

Thank you very much & God Bless

Rick Altman, P.O. Box 961, Apple Valley, Ca.
