Dear John,

Thank you very much for your message. Just in case there is a connection between us, I thought you may like to know the sad news that Kitty, my wife's mother (and Mary Kiely's grand-daughter) passed away on the 11 January this year at the age of 94. Her burial is this Friday 24th Jan, and there will be several relatives from the O'Donoghue/Griffin/Kiely clan present for the occasion. If my wife's Mary Kiely is the same as yours, then there will be some of your 2nd cousins present at the Mass and burial.

My wife can remember that a Priest, a Father Kiely, used to visit her grandmother Minnie Griffin (mary Kiely's daughter)in Kinsale; he was a relative, but we do not know any more than that. The Griffin family used to live at a property called Ballinvard, on the outskirts of Kinsale. That house is still in the family, and my wife and I saw it when we visited Kinsale last year.

We do have a picture of Mary Kiely, if only we can locate it! It was taken on the day my wife's mother Kitty left Ireland for England. Once we have found the picture I shall scan it and e-mail it direct to you.

Bob Swan
