I maintain a research database dedicated to helping genealogists with similarly spelled surnames who have trouble that may be caused by spelling errors or mutations.
In order to accomplish that goal, the database attempts to be a clearinghouse of information on all these families.
To date there is over 6Mb of data on Kiefer, Kifer, Kiffer, Keffer, Keifer, etc. It includes all the census references transcribed for 1850 thru 1920.
For those who wish to visit:
Tt is called K160 Research, based on the soundex code for all these names, and you can usually find pages directly by conducting a yahoo search with your name and K160 as arguments.
