According to the 1850 & 1860 census records that I have seen for John, it appears that he was more than likely born circa 1829 as he was 21 years old in 1850 and 30 years old in 1860. That being the case, he may well be the son of Benjamin KIGER and Catherine WEIKLE. In 1830, Benjamin and his family were enumerated in Jackson Co. OH, which was larger than it is today and neighbors Ross Co. OH. That record shows there to have been 1 male less than 5 years old in the household. By 1840, the family is living in Clinton Co. OH and there is 1 male that is of 10 years of age, but less than 15. Based on what I see in the 1850 & 1860 census records for John, he seems to be a fit in both the 1830 & 1840 census records for the family of Benjamin KIGER.

And in 1850, Catherine Weikle KIGER [Benjamin's widow] and Martha Kiger GRIFFIN [who I believe to be their daughter] & family are also living in McLean Co. IL.

If John is indeed the son of Benjamin KIGER and Catherine WEIKLE, then other siblings are William Weikle KIGER [who married (1) Lydia COX and (2) Rachel Price RAMBO], and probably Benjamin KIGER [who married Mary ANCIL].
