Hi Betty - I don't have the answers to many of the questions, but will try and give you my thoughts and where they have come from.I think each of us have thoughts and can justify them one way or another, but I keep hoping that someone will come up with some facts that will answer questions for all of us.We desperately need Church Records from Mecklenburg Co (or Union Co.) This would help to answer many questions for us.I hope you will keep your eye out for any of these records that may become available.
Children from the Bible of George Adam Keicher and Elizabeth B-------:
Johann Keicher born 1782
Christian Keicher born 1784
George Keicher born 1786
Susannah Keicher born 1789
Charles Kiker born 1791
Benjamin Kiker born 1794
----Statement in the 1911 letter for the birth of Evan Christian Kiker in 1806, stating he is the son of George Adam
----Marriage record of Margaret Kiker to John Stancil - Census data would indicate Margaret to be born about 1800 and could be the daughter of George Adam.
I could not begin to explain the information listed on the Census records, knowing that many of them have been found to be in error from one 10 year period to the next. Some children not shown for one reason or another - or even an entire family not shown - answers we will probably never know.I think one good example of that would be the listing of Charles Kiker in Mecklenburg Co 1840 - with NO male listed in the age groups. We do have Charles on the 1840 Cass Co. Ga census - his land hadn't been sold yet in Mecklenburg Co.I don't think we could know for sure who was living in the household.
Tax records I have referred to states persons paying poll tax is at least 21 years of age (21-50) from this I would assume Christian could have been 26? - referring to Bible birth year of 1784.
As to the deed dated 1808, to George, I question the fact that this same land was said to be sold by Christian, with the deed being filed and registered to the person he sold it to - and then in 1886 this same deed was finally proved and registered as tho it had never been sold?
I have a question on the data shown on the 1811 Tax list for Mecklenburg Co, which shows Christian as paying poll tax only.IF he had purchased land in 1808 in Anson Co and was probably married by 1811, would he not be living in Anson Co?
As to the obituary of Charles A. Kiker.-- the George Cariker/Karacker, Rev. War Pensioner, DID go to Heard Co. Ga with one of his sons.He was there in the early 1830's, and shown to have died in 1836.This information furnished by Simpson would indicate to me that there is a strong possibility that Charles A. Kiker COULD have been the son of George Cariker/Karacher who went to Ga with one of his sons.I believe we could all agree that the interchange of the spelling of the names on various records would leave this open for further research.
The 1820 Census for Anson Co. was dated Feb. 1821 and was scheduled to have been taken in either August or October of 1820.Benjamin Franklin was born in May of 1820 - according to Census records - therefore, I am inclined to believe that he could have been and would have been the 2nd male to be under 5 years of age on the 1820 Census. He would have been counted as such had the census been taken in June or July as many of the other years were. His date of birth would fit in with the years of Joshua, John and Mary.He was in Cass County along with his (supposed) brother John who was born in 1818, both marrying in Cass/Bartow Co., both marrying in the fall of 1842 - same County.
One of Benjamin Franklin *1820)'s descendants, who was interviewed by Jim Kiker of Corpus Christi, mentioned to Jim, that he remembered his grandfather (Ben Frank 1820) and his sotries of himself (Ben Frank 1820) being raised by his grandfather. He (descendant) also stated he believed they had one sister - (who could have been the Mary Kiker, who married Wm Lollar).Mary and Wm Lollar were living in Alabama when John (1818) moved his family to Alabama. Many of them in the same area. The John Stancil family (who married the Margaret Kiker) was living closeby also. There are no FACTS that prove these children, but the dates fit fairly well and the location of where they lived and married COULD justify the assumption they were brothers and sister.
The children not accounted for on the 1830 Census for Benjamin Kiker COULD be the the children of Christian but we will probably never know.
Reference to the Matilda - we could assume that since Elizabeth was probably living with Charles and Amelia in Cass County when she first applied for Widow Pension, that the Matilda could have been Amelia. This could be supported by the fact that Thomas Bird (a close neighbor), Charles Kiker and John Kiker (probably John the son of Charles, since Elizabeth was living with him on the 1850 Census) gave an affidavidt that George was a Rev. War Pensioner and left a widow, Elizabeth.Another possibility could be that Matilda was the daughter of Charles and Amelia, Matilda being born in 1828.
With reference to Adam Lowasser/Lopasser and Catherine Lemly. She was the daughter of Phillip Lemly and Mary Elizabeth Kiker, married in 1785 in Rowan Co. NC.Mary Elizabeth is THOUGHT to be and COULD be the sister of George Adam and Conrad.
The Elizabeth Kiker who married Killian Earnhardt in 1816 - COULD be and is probably the daughter of Christian and Elizabeth Linebarger Kiker of Rowan Co.
Please - any of you Keicher/Kiker/Kyker researchers - jump in with your thoughts and questions - and hopefully answers.
Donna
