My name is Karen Young Thompson and I am the granddaughter of one of Minta's sisters - Della Mae (or May) Kilborn. Della's parents were Hiram Kilborn and Elizabeth (McFadden) Kilborn and my mother was Della's daughter Helen Gordinier. Hiram Kilborn and Elizabeth McFadden Kilborn are buried in the old Pioneer Cemetery in Eugene, OR in our family plot and several younger generation members in our family have the Hiram or Elizabeth names as first or middle names, including my own daughter Elizabeth.

My mother, Helen Gordinier Young, told me some stories but not many about her Aunt Minta. I know she was somewhere in South Dakota as the family lived there for a while near Mitchell, SD. Hiram and Elizabeth moved to Eugene, OR with some family members including Ethyln Kilborn (daughter). Great-Aunt Ethyln was a wonderful person and knew lots of family history - she recorded some in a letter and I have it now. I remember "Aunt" Ethyln as she was a widow most of her life and never had kids but did raise her brother Gordon Kilborn's daughter Juanita (Kilborn) Marlatte, who was raised in Eugene in the old family home (belonged to Hiram and Elizabeth Kilborn). Juanita was raised almost as a "sister" to my mother (her cousin) as Eugene, OR was not a large town then and the family homes were within 2 blocks or so of each other. Of course, when Hiram and Elizabeth moved to Eugene and bought the house there were no blocks; the house is still there but is very tightly surrounded now by regular family homes just off the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR.

I'd love to talk more with you as you are undoubtedly a relative of mine too. I don't know how much information I have but would be glad to share. I have some old pictures too which I might be able to email or something but none would be of Minta.

Please feel free to email me anytime and we can meet on the common ground of our anestors. I have just started my genealogy searches and am thrilled to have such success with a relative on my mom's side!! Please email so we can stay in touch.
