Hi Michael
Thanks for census information which is actually wrong. My gt-grandmother,Elizabeth Kilby, married William Stubbs after my gt-grandfather Henry John Kilby died in 1874. The children listed, Emily Annie, Grace Elizabeth, Henry John (my grandfather) and Mary Ellen are all Kilbys. Not sure why only one was given the Kilby surname - guess that's how the person copying it interpreted it. My gt-grandparents ran Foords Hotel in Filey, and later Elizabeth took over the Crown Hotel. My grandfather, Henry John Kilby, came to New Zealand in the early 1890's.
