This man is indeed one of my most favorite Kilbys. He lived forever, for one. He lived in at least three states for another. He had ten children that we know of, many of whom were quite "colorful" to put it mildly. Sometimes in a humorous way, sometimes not. Some of them were actually respectable.
He was the son of Henry Kilby and Mary Harmon of Wilkes Co., NC. I think the Harmon genes prevailed here. He was a grandson of Michael Kilby and Susannah Brown of Wilkes Co., NC, and great-grandson of John Kilby of Culpeper County, VA. His wife was Malinda Wilson, whom he married on 5 SEP 1840 in Haywood Co., NC.
Last, he has been a real challenge to follow. Decency forbids me to delve into further detail, but the term "ridge runners" certainly comes to mind for this mountaineer family.
