Mac or NĂ Ghiolla dhuibh, son or duaghter or the black servant or black church as i've always been told in school. I cant remember why there was a need for the additional h's in giolla and dubh, but it defineately made it sound different. Sounded like ghiola and guive. I cant remember what the irish for church is either. My old irish teacher had a book that translated english names to irish, and then back into english using the irish, and the result is above. Actually it was two teachers from different schools that gave me that meaning. Must be the same book. Anyways, Galway, Westmeath and Cavan ohhh and of course Dublin are the relations I have.
