My grandfather was William Patrick Kiley and
when I was about 10 years he told me:
_his name was originally spelled Kiely and had been changed
by the immigration officials for ease in spelling.
_his father's name was Dennis.
_he grew up at the family home in County Clair and
showed me on a map; up the Shannon River where it turns.
_after he "came over" he lived with his mother,
Mary Noonan and sister Stacia in Utica, NY
_when he was 34 he left Utica for California,
but was "caught" by my grandmother, Margaret Anne
and they lived happily in Chicago and retired to Flordia.
His only son was William Henry Kiley (my father) who married
Marylin Ann Miller (1/6/41) and they were lifelong
residents of the Chicago, IL area. I was conceived to be a draft deferrment shortly after Pearl Harbor, DOB 11/4/42
I lived in my grandfather's apartmemt bldg until 10
then moved to Palos Heights, Cook Co., Il, School Dist 128.
I graduated from Brother Rice, HS, Chicago, IL in 1960,
joined the Navy to get away from home, graduated from
IIT, BSME '64 and Ensign USN. Served on the Commissing Crew
of the USS Bergall (SSN667).
