You might be interested to know that recent Y chromosome DNA testing of three Kilgour/Kilgore's in Scotland and Northern Ireland shows the probability of having a common ancestor with almost all of the approx. 40 Kilgore's tested in the US at 98-100% within 16-24 generations. That coincides perfectly with the estimated beginning of Kilgour as a surname. It seems that most Kilgour's of that spelling have roots in Scotland while those with the anglicized gore are generally a few generations removed to Northern Ireland. Naturally that does not hold true for everyone. The Kilgore database is just one of many such databases at Family Tree DNA of Houston. Please encourage any Kilgour interested to participate! REK
