I an not related to your branch of the Kilgours but took a look to see what I could find for you.
You mention Catherine's mother as being Anna Schemm. I have found what I am sure is the right family for your Catherine and then went back further to find her mother with parents. I did so and found them under the name Groth.
I started with the 1910 census as Catherine was born 1909.
Here is what I have found for you.
1910 Baltimore, Maryland, Baltimore Ward 23, District 378
63 South Randall Street
(this family all living in same home)
Elizabeth, head, age 54, widow, 11 children born, 6 living, born MD parents both born Germany. she is renting her home, no occupation
Anna E., daughter age 25, married - first marriage, married 2 years, 1 child born, 1 living, born MD father born Germany mother born MD, no occupation
Ernest G., son-in-law age 24, married - first marriage, married 2 years, born VA parents both born VA, nickel plater in plumber supplies
Catherine E., granddaughtet, age 9/12 born MD father born VA mother born MD
George O., son age 14, born MD father born Germany mother born MD
**** so in this census it looks likes Anna, her husband and daughter are living in Anna's mother's home, along with her brother George. Anna's mother is show with last name Kismer/Kisner so may have remarried at some point or is using her maiden name??
1920 Baltimore, Baltimore Ward 23, District 385
30 Randall Street East
(even thought both Elizabeth and Ernest are shown as head it is same household)
Elizabeth, head, renting, age 64, widow born MD parents born Germany, housework/home
Ernest St. head, renting age 34, born VA parents born VA nickel plater - foundry
Annie, wife age 34, born MD parents both born Germany
Catherine, daughter, age 11, born MD father born VA mother born MD
Ernest G. son age 2-6/12 born MD father born VA mother born MD
*** Elizabeth is now shown with last name Groth
1930 Baltimore, MD, District 372
30 Randall Street
Ernest G. head, owns home, age 44, married at age 23, born VA father born KY mother born VA metal polisher, Gibson's (cannot read next work)
Anna, wife age 45 married at age 24, born MD father born VA mother born MD
Catherine, daughter age 20 married at age 20, born MD father born MD mother born VA
Ernest G. son age 13, born MD father born VA mother born MD
Elizabeth, mother-in-lae, age 74 widow, born MD parents born Germany
*** this one is full of inconsistencies - other census show Ernest's parents both born VA, here KY is suddenly shown
Anna shoes father born Va when other census shows him born Germany
Catherine shows father born MD mother VA which is backwards
I suppose a case of human error
I decided to see if I could find Anna's father in 1900
1900 Baltimore MD, Baltimore Ward 22 District 282
1216 Bayard Street
Henry age 49, born Jan. 1851, married 25 years born Ger. parents both born Ger. immigrated 1853, in country 47 years, cigar maker
Elizabeth, wife age 44, born May f1856 married 25 years, 11 children born/ 6 living, born MD parent both born Germany
Lizzie, daughter age 21, born Jan. 1879 born MI (Michigan) father born Germany mother born MD
Henry, son age 19, born July 1881 born MD father born Ger. mother born Md, brick worker
Annie, daugher age 15, born March 1885 born MD father born Germ. mother born MD
Anna M. daughter, age 9 born Jan. 1891 born MD father born Germ. mother born MD
Sarah C. daughter, age 7, born June 1893 born MD father born Germ. mother born MD
George O. son age 4, born Jan. 1896 born MD father born Germ. mother born MD
**8 so Anna's father Henry must have died between 1900 and 1910
**Lizzie is shown born Michigan but I assumed that was an error in the census so looked for the family in 1880, one year after her birth. Surprise, I found them in MI
1880 Detroit, Wayne Co. MI
Henry age 29 cigar maker, born Hesse Darns. parents both born Hesse Darns.
Lizzie, wife age 25, keeping house born MD parents both born Prussia
Lizzie, daughter, age 1, born MI father born Hesse Darns. mother born MD
I couldn't find Henry in 1870 but I think I found his parents and siblings. The reason I think it is his family is that I also found their passenger listing for 1853 when they came to Baltimore from Germany. In that passenger listing there are two sons named Heinrich. One is Heinrich Philip age 7, and the other is Heinrich age 1. It was not uncommon for German families to use the same name for more than one child usually with a second name in there as well. I have found it several times in my husband's grandmother's family.
Here is what I found
1870 Baltimore Ward 2, MD
Henry age 54, barber born Jesse Darnmstadt
Catherine wife, age 34 keeping house born Jesse Capel
Charles son age 17 at home born At Sea
Henry son age 13 born Hesse Capel
Mena daughter age 8 born MD
Frederick son age 3, born MD
Gustave son age 3, born MD
***This is the first time I have seen a birth place shown as At Sea
Then I found the passenger listing
Baltimore Passenger Arrivals
July 25, 1853
all the following are surname GROTH
Heinrich age 40, barber
Mary Elisabeth, age 31
Elisabeth age 11
Johannes age 9
Heinrich Philip age 7
Marie age 3
Heinrich age 1
and unkown male born At Sea ( this should be Charles)
I think that the age for Heinrich in 1870 should probably read 18 not 13 maybe it just looks like a 3.
I'll let you know if I find more for you.
