Louis Kilker in Iowa born 1884.

My lineage traces back to Donald Ralph Kilker son of Louis Kilker born in Iowa in 1884.

From an Iowa census of 1900, I find Louis, Fredrick (or Frederick), and Sophia Kilker. Their dad must have died or something, because they are living with a man whose name starts with B. I can't read the rest. Their mother there is Katie. I'm pretty sure she's the mother, since Louis, Fredrick, and Sophie are listed as Step Children. In Fredrick and Louis's case, their mother is listed as born in Illinois, which is true of Katie. Their father is listed as born of Germany, and the Mr. B character is born in Holland.

Here's the question. I don't know who the Kilker was that married Katie and gave the children the name. It is rumored in family that the family moved from Illinois to MN to Iowa. Any clues?
