Killebrew Family Genealogy Forum
Thanks for your response, Deborah. I don't know what "J.W." stands for. In an old newspaper clipping from 1895 telling about Retta Harris, it just says she moved from her brother's home in the country (Carter Blanton Harris) to the home of J.W. Killebrew in Dresden. Then the clipping says that the night before she died, she was moved "across the street to the home of A. Holmes". Retta's grandparents were Z.H. and Martha J. Harris of Dresden. Z.H. died in 1847. I'm trying to find Martha's maiden name. The most likely names that I have found for possibilities are Killebrew, Kyle, and Crittendon. Retta was friends with a Marie Kyle of McKenzie. Marie Kyle's mother was a Crittendon. Z.H. and Martha were in Carroll County, TN in the 1830 census, moved to Weakley County during the 30's and were in the Weakley County census for 1840. I just wonder why Retta would be the the Killebrew home those weeks before she died. Well, again, thank you for responding to my inquiry. We'll just keep looking.
