If you find a more detailed link to a Killip, I should be able to help you further.

If you discover that James was a McKillip, I may be of help, but it is less likely as I have concentrated on Killips and only gathered McKillip information incidentally - there is a separate surname forum for McKillip and there are about as many McKillips in USA and Canada as there are Killips. The two names probably had a common origin in 14th century when Scotland ruled the Isle of Man, but insufficient records go back that far to prove a link.
