Hello Ian. I can't recall if we've chatted before. I've seen your name many times on the Manx BB. KILLIP is a fairly distant connection to me, so I haven't spent a great amount of time on it so far. However, today I started to look at it a bit deeper and realized I had some significant errors in my assumptions.

Some Background:
My ancestor is Margaret KILLIP who married John SCARFFE about 1769 presumably in Lonan. (Records are missing for that time period). Their daughter Margaret SCARFFE (widow of Thomas CLAIGUE) married John GELLING in 1798 in Lonan, so that is the connection to my surname. I know Margaret was the daughter of Patrick KILLIP and Jane KERMOD married 1742, and in turn, Patrick is the son of Patrick KILLIP and Isabel QUAY.

My understanding is that this latter Patrick is quite likely the Patrick baptized 1687 in Ballaugh son of Patrick KILLIP and Christian LOONEY.

My errors were with regard to a parallel Killip family in Lonan in the early 1700's, descendants of John KILLIP a schoolteacher and clerk in Lonan. I had muddled the families of Patrick and John together somehow. I think I have them more or less sorted out now, but spent a lot of time in the process with not much to work with.

Recently I've been following up with my parallel Manx lines, and the KILLIPS are showing up in several places. I just found this Killip site today, and saw your note. Would it be possible for me to link into your Killip database somehow? In exchange, I can provide related information, particularly the connections down trough some of the descendants.

Thanks for your help, Ian
Sincerely
Eric Gelling.
