I found my connection to the Killips a short while ago while looking for someone else. I knew Esther Jane’s father’s name from her marriage certificate. I could not find her birth, however. Then I came across her birth in the Braddan Church records – right father, right age. I had been searching under her father’s name (Oswald), but she was illegitimate, so was registered as a Killip.
The remainder of her family I presumed from the records – trouble is that when you are looking in the 1700s there is little evidence to prove you are correct, unless you are lucky – as I expect you know. All the Manx church records are said to be on the IGI (on line at http://www.familysearch.org) and there is an Ancestral file entry for my branch of the Killip family (somebody else had the worked out same family as I had – very reassuring) which goes back a bit further back in the Cross line.

On Thomas Killip, all I have is the Christening – on 18 Jan 1789 at Bradden Church, Douglas, Isle Of Man, from the parish records (which is, of course in the IGI but it is a Christening record not a birth).
