Mrs. Annie Kilburn Kilmer, mother of Joyce Kilmer

I am not related to the KILMER family but collect books and ephemera periodically. I bought a memorial book (hard cover) commemorating the death of Mrs Annie Kilburn Kilmer, wife of Dr. Frederick Barnett Kilmer, and mother of Sergeant Joyce Kilmer, poet and soldier. She died at her home in New Brunswick, NJ, on Friday, January 1, 1932. The booklet describes her as having been born in Albany, NY, daughter of Anda and Ellen Kilburn, formerly of Massachusetts.

she spent her girlfhod days in Binghamton, NY, where she met and married Dr. Kilmer. She was the mother of four children, all of whom preceded her in death. The book describes her survivors as:

Her husband and four grandchildren, namely Mrs. Eleanor SCEVA, wife of Louis SCEVA of Coytesville, NJ and daughter of a deceased son, Anda Kilmer; Kenton, Deborah and Christopher KILMER, children of Mrs. Aline Murray KILMER and the late Sergeant Joyce KILMER, and two great-grandchildren, Martha and Nathaniel SCEVA, children of Eleanor and Louis SCEVA.

I hope this is helpful to KILMER researchers. It is truly a lovely little book.
