Old War Veteran Dies
Abram Kilmer, aged 79, among the best known Civil War veterans of this city, passed away at his home, 1630 Spring street, Sunday afternoon, following a long illness. The deceased was born in the state of New York, February 12, 1845, and at the age of one year moved with his parents to Wisconsin. He enlisted in the Union army from that state and was assigned to Company C, Thirty seventh Wisconsin Infantry. He was married to Miss Jennie E. Rockafeller in Wisconsin and with his family came to this state 19 years ago. Mrs. Kilmer passed away March 8 of this year. Surviving the deceased is one daughter, Mrs. Alice Foster. Mr. Kilmer was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and of the Grand Army of the Republic and its affiliated orders. Funeral services were held from the Mills chapel Tuesday afternoon at 1:30, Rev. J. M. Canse officiating assisted by local patriotic organizations.
