I'm looking for the origins of a name combination of Kilner Newman. I have an ancestor named Kilner Newman from the Dublin, Ireland area, born in 1829. His family was Episcopal, so they were most likely English, and he was in the building trades.

We've found quite a few Newmans with Kilner as a first or middle name, in places as far flung as Manchester, New York, Ontario, Vancouver and Sydney.

Who was the first to name their son Kilner Newman? Was it a mother's maiden name? A business partner? Any clues?
