Hello there!
I am Thomas Gene Kimbrell, son of Melvin Davis Kimbrell, Sr. and Anna Marie Kimbrell, both deceased (MDK died in 1983). They had 3 children: Mariann Lee Kimbrell, now Miller, born 1948 of Perkins OKLA, Melvin Davis Kimbrell, Jr., born 1951,deceased in 1996 was of Burlingame, Ca (SF Bay Area) and me TGK in Brentwood, CA (born1959). My grandfather was Jesse Kimbrell of Duncan or Dustin OKLA He Married Vera and I believe had Melvin, Joseph, Mary, Mildred and Essie Kimbrell. Facts are very sketchy in our family as most are deceased and few talked much about family history. I do know that Jess Kimbrell died while plowing a field when a tornado/storm approached and spooked the horses he was driving, they took off and dragged him by the neck across the field killing him. Vera was never one to be lonely as she had a total of 7 children, so she remarried right away, thus more confusion. I do know that Jesse Kimbrell was full blooded Choctaw.

I had an uncle Joe that I remember visiting as a child near Little Rock, AK. He died of a sudden heart attack while driving and hit a pole.

My Aunt Mary may still be alive in Okla.City. Have not heard from her in years, she moved and we lost track.

Mildred died suddenly in the early 90's. She had married a Ted Thomas, who may be alive in the Tulsa area.

There is supposed to be some Kimbrell cousins out there. I recall another Melvin Kimbrell, who served in the Vietnam era as I remember meeting him as a small child and he was in uniform.

I have two Children; Ashlie, 14 and Austin 13. As far as I know right now Austin is carrying our name on as the last of the Melvin Davis Kimbrells.

It is my understanding and belief that all of the 2-L Kimbrells and maybe the 1-L's are in some way from the same tree! And I hold that it was a damn good tree too!!!

Anyway, if you know more or have questions, I will be happy to respond. My email is

Happy hunting!...Tom
