Dear Siobhan,

It's not often that one comes across this name. My last name has gone through various spellings including; Kimmenauer; Kimenhour; Kimenhower; Kimenaur; Kiminour; and lastly Kimminour.

My branch of the Kimminour's arrived in the US around 1852 from Reinhardsmunster, Alsace-Lorraine. My ggg grandparents were Bernhard and Magdalena Stangle(Stengel)Kimmenauer. They settled first in western New Jersey and later in eastern Pennsylvania. Their primary occupations were woodchoppers and farmers.

I can account for all of the off-spring from this union, so I'm presently unaware of the migration patterns of other Kimminours.

What line of Kimminau's do you descend from? I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Ben Kimminour
Bethlehem, PA
