Clipping in Maude Evelyn (Waggoner) Kinard's notebook:

J. C. Kinard
Jackson, GA., Jan 2 - J. C. Kinard, 65, former widely known grocer and long identified with the business affairs of Jackson, died at his home here yesterday. He had long been in feeble health but death resulted from a sudden illness. Fourteen years ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis and had been forced to retire from active business duties. Born in Jasper county, as son of Mike Kinard and Nannie McClellan Kinard, he moved to Butts county in 1891. From 1913 to 1928 he operated a grocery in Jackson. He was a member of the Jackson Methodist church. In 1895 he was married to Miss Kate Clark, of Butts county, who survives. Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. J. F. Hardy, of Jackson; a brother, W. W. Kinard of Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. B. M. Hattaway and Mrs. S. J. Niblett of Dry Branch, and several nieces and nephews. Rites were held at the residence today, the Rev. A. E. Barton officiating.
