SHREVEPORT, LA- Mrs. Gladys Doris Kinard Simons, 85, passed away on Saturday October 10, 2009 at Willis Knighton North after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Tuesday October 13, at Osborn Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday October 14, 2009 at Osborn Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Tom Howe of Christ United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent Ave.

Mrs. Simons was a native of Ringgold, LA and a resident of Shreveport, LA for 59 years. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Ark-La-Tex Classic Car Club. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who's life's joy was being with her family.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years John Simons Jr. parents, Lemuel David and Blanche Roach Kinard, one sister Edna Nelson, two brothers Jack and Kermit Kinard. She is survived by her daughter, Chandra Whittington and husband Rick; son Rev. Dale Simons and wife Bonnie, nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Cliff Shelder, Jim Cooly, Travis Beard, Ron Kinard, Jonathan Whittington and Shaun Whittington

The family request in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 1204 Crabapple Dr. Shreveport, LA 71118 or the American Cancer Society , 920 Pierremont Rd. Suite 300, Shreveport, LA 71106

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Pierre V. Blanchard and Vicki; the nurses and aides of 5 West, Lifecare North; Guest House and members of Christ UMC. OSBORNFUNERALHOME.NET
