Dear Scott,
I am writing regarding your New Britian,Bucks Co.,Pa Martin Kindig. I am decended through this line also, through his brother Henry Kindig, who married Suzanna Schwartz and moved to Medina Co.,Ohio.
Martin Kindig and Catherine Overholt had nine children. There were eight brothers and one sister; John was the oldest and he married Mary Hunsberger. Martin was the next; he married Mary Detwiller, daughter of Jacob Detweiler and Maria Kolb. When Martin died, Mary came to Medina Co., Ohio and is buried there. Samuel, born 20 Feb 1806, married Catherine Ruth. Then came Henry, born 17 Jun 1807. He married Suzanna Schwartz, and he is my gggrandfather. Next came Jacob Kindig who married a Leah and moved to Iowa. They had 12 sons. Jacob was born in 1808. Next was Catherine, and I'm not sure what happened to her (I also have a Catherine Kindig who married a Jacob Landis in Bucks Co. I thought that was Martin and Mary D. Kindig's daughter, but you have her with Omer Reese.) The other sons of Martin and Catherine were Joseph, Abraham, and Jonas.
I have quite a bit of info on this family. Your Martin was the third Martin in a row, as far back as I know. The first came on the ship Molly in 1741 and settled in Montgomery Co.,Pa.
Maybe by now you have this info. I'd be glad to share what we know. They were weavers, and were Mennonites.
Glad to hear from you.
Becky Perry
