For some reason I was never notified of your followup message Charles. Sorry for the long delay in getting back to you on this. I show that your Elijah Franklin Kingery was a son of Peter Kingery and Sarah Davis. Peter was born March 15, 1770 in Ferrum, Franklin Co., VA. and he died on May 16, 1872, at the age of 102 years, two months and one day.
On Thursday, May 23, 1872, the Ironton Register Newspaper, Lawrence County, Ohio, reported, "Death of a Centenarian, Peter Kingry, whose age was 102 years and 2 months, died in Lawrence Township, this County, last Thursday. He was doubtless, the oldest person in this County."
There is a record of a PETER A. KINGERY who was buried in the Woodland Cemetery, Upper Township, Lawrence County, Ohio. However, I'm not sure if this is/was him or not.
His wife who was the mother of your Elijah F. Kingery, was Sarah Davis. She was born about 1775, and she died sometime after June 5, 1848 and before Sep. 18, 1850, presumably in Lawrence Co., OH. Peter was recorded on the 1850 census of same with a woman in his home named Nancy, however, Peter and Nancy Catherine Followell were not married unitl April 17, 1851. He, and all of the other Kingery's of Lawrence Co., OH., were incorrectly recorded on the 1850 census under the name of "RINGERS", rather than Kingery.
Sarah Davis was the daughter of Joseph Davis.
Peter Kingery, husband of Sarah, is believed to have been the son of Peter Christian Kingery, SR., b. abt. 1740, some say in Kassel, Germany, others say Pennsylvania. His wife's name was Catherine Sebold. Peter Christian Kingery died in 1810 in Franklin Co., VA. and his wife died in 1818 in same. They were recorded on the 1810 census of Franklin Co., VA., as"Peter Kingry, Sr." He died that same year, after the census was conducted. The only problem with this is that Catherine Sebold and Peter Kingery are said to have been married in Dauphine Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. in 1780, and Peter JR., was born in 1770 (according to his death notice in the Lawrence Co., OH., newspaper above).
