Are you Nellie's grand daughter thru her son Bobby? If so
check your facebook messages. I still am not sure about
John M. Smith's father's first name as I have no documentation that says it was William. But John M. Smith's mother was Sarah Huff when she married the Smith.
He went to fight in the civil war for the confederates.
He never came home. John M was the result of that union.
Sarah Ann Huff Smith then married Elihu Skeens. Found that in the 1870 census in Wise County VA.

Emily Jane Byrd Smith's parents were Samuel William Bird
1842-1892 and Hannah Eliza Cunningham 1846. Check for them
in Washington Co. VA

Hope this helps..Wish we could be sure of John M. Smith's
fathers name. I also had William in my records, but not
sure where I came up with that..

Betsy Smith Bowen
Youngest daughter of Fred Sewell Smith 1918-1997
