Hi..
Finally had a chance to do some checking into
the Mary Kinghorne (b. 1795), daughter of
Thomas Kinghorn & Janet Darling. Tried
doing a family search and Mary was not
listed with her family in the early 1800's.
It seems likely she may have died in infancy?
Wasn't sure which Darling family Janet belonged to as the mostly likely family was
from nearby Chirnside. However, the birthyear for that Janet Darling of 1782 seems a little early to have been the mother
of Mary Kinghorn (1795)? There is a Thomas
Kinghorn (b. 1776) in Whitsome & Hilton.
His father was William (B. 1757) and siblings: Alison (1755), Agnes (1763) and
Janet (1765) all of Whitsome & Hilton. Was
unable to make a direct connection to our
family (from the same general vicinity).
Perhaps Eileen Harrop could help with this?
She is a frequent responder to the message
boards and has done much research on the
Kinghorns in that area. Have you learned
anything more on the Darling family?
