Greg
I have family of Kinghorns who moved to Inveresk around 1743 from Ormiston. There were nine known children one of whom was a Janet. She was in the third generation I have recorded with the name Janet. I only have one recorded (so far) marriage of any of her siblings. I suspect that there is very likely a connection.

Do you know what age your Janet was when she married? It may help connect the generations. I have one likely suspect for her parents. Do you have any siblings for her? this would help in tracing especially as they tended to use family names frequently.
