I too am descended from Francis Rodney KINGHORN and your information is most exciting . I have only recently begun to follow back the KINGHORN line.

For those following him, Francis Rodney KINGHORN married Mary THOMSON -the marriage licence dated 20 Jan 1847.

In the census of 1871 the whole family are at
The Nursery ,Upper Richmond Road,in the parish of Mortlake ,Surrey.

They are:
FRANCIS Rodney Kinghorn aged 58 - born Scotland 1813c
FRANCIS J Kinghorn son aged 13 - born Surrey 1858c
ANNIE F Kinghorn dtr aged 17 - born Midlesex 1854c
JANE(Jenny)Kinghorn dtr aged 20 - born Middlesex 1851c
CHRISTINA Kinghorn dtr aged 22 - born Middlesex 1849c
MARY(Thomson) Kinghorn Wife aged 55- born Scotlad 1816c

Two daughters JENNY and ELIZABETH (Eizabeth had already left home by this census )married brothers James Alfred and Edward Harris the sons of Joseph Gordon-Jones & Martha Payne.Budget who married 8 July 1828. (I have more on these.)

CHRISTINA however became my great grandmother by marrying ALEXANDER MACKENZIE from Muir of Ord, Scotland in 1874.

I think they had but the one child my grandmother MARY Christina Mackenzie b 12 Jan 1875.The mother CHRISTINA died in 1880 aged only 31 and by the next year the census tells us her family are living at 3 Wellington Square , Chelsea and her husband's sister is looking after the child now aged 6.Alexander's brother too is resident.

Little MARY was to become Mrs Errington Ross of Castle Heather Inverness in 1903 and had one live child Errington who was my father.

Soon Alexander Mackenzie had gone to South Africa and remarried a widow Annie Cornell or Butler and had a son DOUGLAS Alexander Mackenzie in 1889. However Alexander died in 1890 and this year old son Douglas was to become a senior bank manager with the Standard bank of South Africa in Durban. He married an ELISE HILDA SNOWDON in 1915.I have traced the family to their grandchildren through her will but have still to make contact.

I'd like to hear from you, Keith , to learn of our link.

Inverness SCT.
