My lineage is Kingman - William Swearingen/Josephine Van Steenburg/Abigail S. Kingman/Alvarado Kingman/Sharon Kingman/Isaac Kingman/Isaac Kingman-Content Packard/Mary Thayer-James Packard/Ephraim Thayer/Ephraim Thayer-Sarah Bass/John Bass-Ruth Alden/John Alden and Priscilla Mullins of The Mayflower. Then when you go through the Thayers - from Ephraim Thayer-Sarah Bass/Shadrach Thayer/Thomas Thayer(immigrant/Richard Thayer there is another famous relative - Kingman/Thayers have Sylvannus Thayer in the line. Thomas and Richard Thayer were both immigrants and the children of Richard Thayer-Alice U Dimery of England. Sylvannus goes through the Richard line - Kingman through Thomas. (They both have Richard and Alice and above as direct relatives.) Who was Syvannus Thayer? He graduated from West Point in 1808 (USMA) and became Superintendent (president). He made such great in roads there he is now known as, "The Father of West Point." Sylvannus has much named after him there and is buried in the West Point Cemetery. My son, in the Kingman Line (Will Swearingen), was the 45th graduate of USMA, in Ma, from our family which includes Sylvannus. Many of the relatives come from my wife's side and goes directly back seven generations BUT counting my side (Swearingen/Thayer), it goes back to 1802 - the first graduating class covering all nine generations there. Some in relatives in my wife's line include General's Swift, Grant, McClellan, MacArthur, and Wainwright. This comprises the longest gray line at West Point. I thought this bit of history might be interesting to other family members. Question - are there any other Kingman family relatives who graduated from USMA? Thank you.
