Thomas Lane Kingsolver and James Campbell Kingsolver are related, but not in the way you conjecture. They are first cousins. And Sarah Waughub is his wife, not his mother (Her maiden name is Irish).
Here is the skeletal data:
Thomas Lane Kingsolver (b 1856 Sullivan Co TN - d 1930 Barber Co KS) married (1878) Sarah Jane Waughub (b 1856 Fremont Co IA - d (1936 Barber Co KS).
Thomas is the son of James Kingsolver (b 1807 Washington Co VA - d 1881 Smith Co KS) and (m 1834) Mary Minnick (b 1814 Washington Co VA - d 1912 Barber Co KS).
Sarah's father is Robert Waughob (b 1815 OH) son of Irish immigrants (see Rober Waughob in Fremont Co IA in the census records of 1870 and 1880).
