Hi All, we Brits call the landing of William of Orange and the de-throning of James 2 as 'The Glorious Revolution' because he landed unopposed and welcomed by most of the population, but some Protestants edged their bets, just in case. The battles in Ireland were very different with the majority of the Irish being Roman Catholic, and aided by the French he sought to regain the throne, but was defeated at the Boyne. The Pope gave a special Mass to celebrate this event.Jim.
